At Malplast, we take the quality of materials delivered to our partners very seriously. One of the key stages of quality control is the precise determination of the percentage composition of regrind. That is, identifying which plastics make up a given batch and in what proportions. This ensures that the material meets not only technological requirements but also environmental standards.

How Do We Analyze the Composition of Regrind?

To accurately identify plastics, we use a modern device called sIRoPAD, developed by the renowned German company GUT. It is based on near-infrared (NIR) technology, widely used in laboratories and the plastics industry. In practice, this allows us to quickly and reliably distinguish polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and other materials present in the regrind.

The sIRoPAD analyzes the absorption spectrum of each flake – essentially its unique “fingerprint” in the infrared range. The software compares this data with a comprehensive spectral database stored in the device’s memory. Enabling us to precisely determine the content of individual components in the sample.

What Does This Technology Offer Us?

Our laboratory was designed with the highest standards in mind, and the sIRoPAD fits perfectly into this vision. It enables the analysis of individual flakes, resulting in highly accurate measurements. This is especially important for mixtures from various sources.

Each test concludes with an automatic recording of results – both graphical and textual. The percentage distribution of components is displayed instantly on the screen, which significantly simplifies interpretation and decision-making. The entire process is efficient and requires no special sample preparation. It’s enough to pour in the regrind and start the analysis.

Why Does Precision Matter?

Knowing the exact proportion of plastics in a material isn’t just about quality. It’s also an expression of environmental responsibility and a guarantee of consistency in production. Thanks to reliable analysis of PP, PE, and other polymers, we can deliver regrind with defined, repeatable properties to our customers.

At Malplast, we believe in the power of modern technologies and transparency of results. Our laboratory is not just a measurement facility. It’s a place where knowledge, experience, and technology work together to deliver value to our clients and the environment.
